World of Warcraft News: Lich King Beta Frenzy

World of Warcraft: Wrath of The Lich King Beta testing invites started going out 2 nights ago and the buzz about the new xpac is reaching an all new frenzy. The content leakage is flowing like wine and in light of this, I thought I would take some time to cover a couple nice WotLK additions, that I personally look forward to.
First off, I am very excited about the new Achievement system. As per Blizzard’s notes:
“World of Warcraft’s achievements system will launch with more than 500 individual achievements covering every aspect of game-play, including world exploration, PvE, PvP, professions, and character development; from the purely whimsical to the truly epic, there will be something for everyone. Some achievements come with in-game rewards such as tabards, vanity pets, and titles. All of these rewards are purely cosmetic and just for fun, but you’ll certainly stand out when you proudly display them.”
I believe Blizz is going somewhere great with this, even though (in my humble opinion) the idea was obviously inspired by a similar system in NCSoft’s City of Heroes/Villains. This is certainly going to be a treat for those of us who will eventually bore easily with the “daily grind” type content.
Second, and this may be a “girl thing”, but I am indeed looking forward to the new character customization. New haircuts, dance styles and other not-yet mentioned purchasable treats are a welcome addition. I, as do many other players, want their toon to stand out and make a bold statement as individuals. Hey! I work hard on my characters and I feel they deserve a good spruce-up! Well, thank you Blizzard, finally! On the down side, this is sure to be a money sink. Especially if you feel the need to change your toons’ styling often. Not unlike the new line of horribly expensive jewelry (*cough*crap*cough*) Haris Pilton is pushing in Lower City, Blizzard will surely do its best to keep the WoW economy in-check.
And lastly, there are whispers of a new engineering mount.. motorcycles?! Will your sexy Blood Elf be able to cruise around Northrend on a Hog? We shall see! Until next time ~*~
