Violent games are often accused of emotionally harm the players. People who play the violence-related game are feared to copy every scene in the game.
But, researchers from Texas A & M International University found if violent games actually have a positive impact on emotional development of players. University studies conducted indicate that violence-themed games can reduce stress and depression levels of a person.
“Violence games can be a place for people to actualize the anger and all the pressures they experienced,” said a researcher at Texas A&M International University Professor Christopher Ferguson.
Researchers conducted a study comparing the effects of groups who play violent themed games such as Hitman: Blood Money or Call of Duty 2 with non-violent games such as Madden 2007. The result shows that the emotions of the group that plays Hitman: Blood Money Call of Duty 2 or more stable, when half the road games, is terminated.
The research which is published in the journal ‘European Psychologist’ involves approximately 103 students, 62 men and 41 women.
Capcom game developers delayed the launch of its latest game Dead Rising 2 until September 2010. Previously, these games will be launched on August 31, 2010. Capcom has stated that, it will launch its latest games each in three regions namely North America (28 September 2010), Japan (September 30, 2010), and Europe (October 1, 2010). In addition, as reported by GameSpot, Capcom also revealed that Wolverine Cuisinart Hand will be a mainstay weapon in dead Rising 2. Dead Rising 2 to be game-awaited by many gamers, circulating news articles mentioned that Capcom has collaborated with Playboy magazine. Such cooperation will bring a playboy magazine content into the game. Content will appear in the background as a board game or a magazine ad. Unlike the original version of Dead rising which is only offered exclusively to Microsoft Xbox360 game consoles, now Dead Rising 2 will also be present for the PlayStation 3 and PC.
