IPhone: SimCity Now Reticulating Your iPhone’s Spline.

Mac fanboys everywhere are pointing at things like this and saying that the iPhone is the next big thing in portable gaming. With decent releases like SimCity, monkey ball, and various others, it’s a possibility. But there is a fundamental flaw in this assumption. The titles, (although filtered through Apple’s iTunes App store) are not all triple A titles.

Not to mention that Apple has not been forthcoming with its regulations and SDK’s. The “App Store Millionaires” will be the first to tell you that pushing through an app is like pulling teeth. Apple only recently loosened policies.

And also, iPhone’s technical specs are not specialized for gaming at all. The touch screen doesn’t make for the best of interfaces, (note: even nintendo, who’s experience in the industry is unrivaled, knew to put a d-pad and buttons on there DS). The accelorometer is all well and good, but not every game can rely on that, in fact, two or three genre’s would do good to ignore that functionality all together! (particularly, most action games.)

Although, a short development time, cheap development process, and built in distrobution model is like crack for developers, Mac is ‘Smugware’. Doing the same thing, only slightly prettier, and 20 times more expensive. You’re better off getting a DS.

As luck would have it, my computer is not destined for a scrap heap. Or any heap for that matter. Worst comes to, i’d probly put linux on it and use it as a backup/file-server. Moreover, as much greif as it gives me, i really do love and rely on this clunky thing.

Back to the point, i still have to call customer service, but as it turns out, its just a minor issue with the battery. I just call them up, and they send me a new one, JUBILATIONS!!!

Twitter / johnwedd.

Welp, i happen to be back. Finals are over and winter break is upon us. I have updated the Wordpress, after having been away from the site for so long, i realized that i need to pay more attention.

Alas, i am a lazy fuck with lots of time on my hands spent mostly watching videos, surfing the web, and playing games. But i still manage to update my twitter feed every so often, why is that?

I have determined that it is lack of conveince, but the fucking genius’s at wordpress.org where way ahead of me. Not to be outdone by twitter, they have a new set up called, Press This. It’s a bookmarklet that gives me one click posting. Fucking sweet kick ass shit, i’m telling you.

So watch for more stuff, and i might be blogging loads more.

Me and Eric ( jerico2day ) have been toying with the idea of making a podcast for quite some time now, we’ve decided to give it a try. I mean, it’s easier to bullshit around and record it, then pass THAT off as content. We’re lazy, we’re geeks; thats how we roll.

Ok, i know i’ve been negleting this site alot more than most. In fact, by reading this, you probly write for the site to begin with. So here’s a big ass change in policy.

IT’S A FUCKING BLOG!

its official. No more not posting something because i don’t think it’s news worthy or intelligent reading. Its a fucking blog. the other posters can now Post what ever they feel like so long as its remotely game related. it can be short, long, involved, freeform, focus and/or completely random.

I just got fucking tired of not posting shit because i wanted this to be a professional blog and the post count suffered. I’ve had alot of game related museings that would have made a great blog post, but not an article.

I will no longer stop or encourage anything but to write what ever the fuck i want.

We’re no strangers to game development, you know the rules and so do I. Sometimes its a pain in the ass to wait for a game you believe, deep in your heart, is going to be good. Some people might have heard or seen videos of Project Offset, the epic FPS in a fantasy setting that the OFFSET team is working on with the support of Intel as their publisher. The game as been in development for quite in a few years, and even without updates the game still had a strong community of dumbasses like Warsaw and myself.

Even though the developers assured us they wouldn’t give us up, never let us down, never gonna run around and … desert us, the forums have been down for a month or two now (if not more, I don’t have an accurate date in mind), the main website as also been suffering from downtimes leading fools like me to believe the site was undergoing an update or refreshment. Unfortunately it pop’d back up with nothing new and the forums still down.

It doesn’t haunt anyone at night but it would be something nice to fix….and its fairly easy to do for devs being under the piles of money that Intel possesses. PLEASE CARE FOR US A LITTLE!
